Hysteroscopy (Uterine Endoscopy)

Hysteroscopy is a gynaecological procedure whereby the surgeon inserts an endoscopic unit into the womb/uterus through the cervix.

This gives the surgeon a magnified view of pathology/diseases in the womb, which are at times unaccessible by conventional means.

This procedure can be diagnostic or therapeutic

Hysteroscopy can be performed using conventional endoscopy with Monopolar or Bipolar energy. In recent years however, mechanical ablation or resection of mass has proven to be safer since it avoids the hazards of energy devices in hysteroscopy. In this video, Dr Chua demonstrates the use of the Intrauterine Bigatti Shaver (IBS) to resect multiple polyps and a submucosal myoma(fibroid)
