Hysteroscopy carries with it the superior advantage of resection of abnormal pathology (in the uterine or cervical cavity) under vision. This is in contrast to the blind approach of conventional curettage which carries a much higher risk of perforation as well as chances of incomplete removal of mass/tumours. In this video, Dr Chua demonstrates the principles as well as application of the intrauterine Bigatti Shaver (IBS) in resecting multiple polypoidal masses with leiomyoma.
This is a video made in China for demonstration of the intrauterine shaver system. The Intrauterine Bigatti Shaver uses mechanical force to resect polyps/fibroids or growths under direct vision. The use of mechanical forces reduces the risk of injury resulting from the use of energy based resectoscopes. (video in Mandarin Chinese Language Subtitles)
