Dr Chua Peng Teng

Care of Pregnant Mothers, Women's Disease and Health Issues as well as Minimally Invasive Gynaecologic Surgery(MIGS).

Dr Chua graduated from Manipal Academy Of Higher Education(MAHE), India with an MBBS degree and subsequently passed the Malaysian Board Exam for a Masters degree (O&G) from the Conjoint Board of O&G, Malaysia & IIUM. He has been in active practice in various hospitals in Malaysia and owing to his passion in Gynaecologic Minimally Invasive Surgery, he underwent fellowship & Diploma training in Minimal Access Surgery (MAS) based in World Laparoscopy Hospital, New Delhi, India. During his stint in India he received the Top Merit Certificate for Gynaecologic Laparoscopist. Subsequently, he embarked on another journey to Linkou, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan, where he trained and worked as a Fellow of APAGE-MIT (Asia-Pacific Association for Gynaecologic Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Therapy). He trained under Pioneer Dr. Chyi-Long Lee and Gynae-Oncologist Dr. Kuan-Gen Huang as a fellow in Advanced Gynaecologic, Gynae Oncologic Minimally Invasive Surgery

He was admitted as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 2018 and being active in academia he is also a member of the Academy of Medicine, College of O&G, Malaysia. Dr Chua’s other engagements include being a member of the American Association of Gynaecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and he was previously serving in the committee for the Gynaecologic Endoscopic Society of Malaysia(GESM). Dr Chua’s areas of practice include VNOTES/ Single Port surgery, Gynae-Oncologic Minimally Invasive Surgery; in particular Sentinel Lymph Node techniques as well as Laparoscopic Radical Hysterectomies for Gynaecologic Cancers. He serves in the APAGE-MIT teaching faculty for Single Port/VNOTES procedures. He is also a journal reviewer for Gynaecology & Minimally Invasive Therapy (GMIT), a peer-reviewed journal for the Asia Pacific region. Dr Chua has published papers on various topics, in particular Cervical Cancer and won best paper award from the Taiwan Association for Minimally Invasive Gynaecology (TAMIG). He was serving in the Gynaecologic Endoscopy Sub-Committee of the Obstetrical & Gynaecological Society Of Malaysia (OGSM) with active organization in laparoscopic surgical training till year 2022. 

Dr Chua was recipient of the Excellent Service Award from State Health Department, Ministry of Health Malaysia, for years 2011, 2017. He is a regular speaker at various teaching institutions as well as regional and international professional conferences. Dr Chua is also a dedicated teacher and has helped trained many medical officers, allied health professionals, nurse practitioners, doctors and specialist trainees in his field of specialization.

It is his aim and vision to promote Gynaecologic Laparoscopy and Minimally Invasive Therapy for the benefit of his patients.

    Working group for MITOR Trial:
    To compare disease-free survival of patients with early stage cervical cancer undergoing total laparoscopic radical hysterectomy (TLRH) versus total abdominal radical hysterectomy (TARH). It is a randomized, multi-center, prospective study including all cervical cancer patients with stage IA2, IB1, IB2 and IIA1 disease.

  • Life Saving Skills in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

    For life saving skills:
    Facilitator/Course Coordinator for the OLSS course, an essential Obstetric and Newborn Emergency Care Workshop, focusing on Hands on management of Obstetric Emergencies as well as core Obstetric/Labour Ward topics.

    Course target groups include: Medical Officers, House Officers, Doctors in Health Districts, Goverment employed/Private Sector Staff nurses, Midwives as well as students in Advanced Diploma courses for Midwifery. Other allied health professionals are encouraged to join this hands on workshop as well.

    This is a non profit course/programme, aimed at improving women’s health care as well as Obstetric/newborn care in achieving competence as a Skilled Birth Attendant(SBA). Course is being conducted at a frequency of 5 – 6 times per annum( as of current )

    Roles include being Malacca State Level Chairman and Coordinator for the Resuscitation Committee Accredited: Obstetric Life Saving Skills Unit till year 2017.
